Also Known As…

I spent the better part of my teen and young adult life struggling to find myself. Between early childhood abuse, pediatric cancer, and various chronic illness diagnoses…it felt like I didn’t know myself. Then, I came up with a saying I would tell myself: Resilient A.K.A. It has a two-fold meaning: I was indeed a resilient AKA, an above-knee amputee.

However, I was so much more than that: I was also known as a sibling. A daughter. Someone who struggled. Someone who loved. I wanted people to see so much more of me than just overcoming my conditions and my disabilities. Now, I take that saying as my identity and part of my message. Now, I’m the journey to show that we are so much more than just that.
